The Mission of ITPA:
To connect the community of IT professionals together to enhance skills,
promote education, share cutting edge solutions and develop lasting
professional relationships. There is an ITPA in Savannah, Brunswick and
Waycross, and each meets once a month.
The Information Technology Professionals Association (ITPA) is comprised of IT
professionals living and working in the local community. ITPA offers
professionals the opportunity to network with other IT people in the industry,
discuss common issues, find solutions and build professional relationships.
Members of the ITPA are professionals actively working in the IT industry
administering and managing Information Systems, doing development work,
installing communications and information systems infrastructures, as well as
students, IT job seekers, technology decision makers or representatives from
organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce or local area economic
development authority. ITPA is designed to be a resource tool for the
Information technology professional. One of our common reminders at meetings is
that everyone is welcome to take a call, answer their beeper and review their
PDA’s during a meeting.
The success of the Savannah Chapter has led to the establishment of other
chapters in the South East Georgia region, Brunswick, as well as Waycross. One
of the goals for the chapters was to leverage the 20-30+ people per meeting to
encourage speakers to visit each location during their appearances in the
coastal area. The chapters set up their meetings to fall on consecutive days in
the week thereby allowing the speakers to visit each chapter giving their
presentations. The Brunswick meetings attempt to line up with the third Friday
of the month meeting of Savannah. Each chapter has its own organizational
structure, membership rosters and choice on whether dues are collected. The
meetings are a relaxed, informative environment for the working IT professional
to network and learn about available technologies. As an association, we have
created a stronger voice and demonstrated our combined purchasing power to the
IT vendor community to demand better products, services and attention than in
previous years.
