Company
Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT)
Customer Profile
Operates a fleet of buses, shuttles, and ferries in the Chatham County
(Georgia) area, serving a ridership of nearly 4 million (2004
statistics). It is a county agency funded by federal, state and municipal
entities, as well as fare collections, and it employs nearly 200 people.
Business Opportunity
CAT required an improved website that allows viewers to navigate more
easily in, and interact more effectively with, a professionally designed
website. In addition, as a government agency, CAT required its website to
be accessible to the visually impaired. Also, there was a need to improve
capabilities of CAT personnel to update various sections of the site, such as
schedules, board minutes, and employee communications (secure area).
Solution Description
PST built a complete interactive, data-driven website which allows
the public to view schedules, fare info, plus many other features, including an
interactive "play" area for kids. In addition, there is a secure section
for CAT employees to view newsletters and other information pertinent to
them. PST also built a secure "back-end" for the site allowing CAT staff
to update the main site on their own. Finally, the site conforms to
accessibility standards for the visually impaired.

PST provided a professional, interactive website showcasing Chatham Area
Transit's routes, fares, and services. Also, the site allows CAT
employees to view newsletters and other important HR information. In
addition, CAT staff can maintain the website on their own through a secure
"back-end" web-based application. The Chatham Area Transit website is
available at

Business Opportunity
In an increasingly "wired" world, it has become more important for various
agencies to become open to their consumers, even for those with disabilaties,
via an easy-to-navigate and user-friendly web
presence. Chatham Area Transit has responded to this trend by
requiring a professional, interactive website available for consumers to
view transit routes, schedules and fares, along with other public information.
Solution
PST developed the website using the latest ASP.NET technology and a Microsoft
SQL Server database. The site organizes the CAT "inventory" of fares, routes,
schedules, and various documents. Viewers can see details of the various
routes and schedules, and children even have an interactive "play" area on the
site. CAT employees can view various updated HR documents and information
in a secure, password-protected area of the site as well. The entire site
conforms to the latest standards for accessibility by those with disabilities.
In addition, PST built a secure "back-end" for the site,
allowing CAT staff to maintain their main website - add, modify, or remove
routes, schedules, notices, board minutes, etc.
